MHS Dance Team: National Dance Team Champions for Hip Hop!
The Marana High School Dance Team is now the #1 Hip Hop dance team in the nation after winning the Varsity Intermediate Division I - Hip Hop at the UDA National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida!
The team of 22 dancers competed against twenty other talented schools from across the nation. For Coach Maya Alexander, this has been a dream ten years in the making. From dancing on the MHS dance team herself to now coaching, her dream of bringing home the coveted white satin jacket was finally realized.
“This team has been a dream team from the start. They are the hardest workers I know with unmatched resilience. No matter the obstacles, they have remained positive, kind, patient, and polite. No one deserves this more than them,” said Coach Maya.
For more than 40 years, the UDA National Dance Team Championship has been the culmination of the season for dancers across the nation. It’s the most prestigious high school national championship in the country and the perfect opportunity for dance teams to get together and celebrate with each other at the Most Magical Place on Earth, the Walt Disney World Resort.
