Meg Maxwell Accepts Bens Bells Kindness Award

Meg Maxwell, an art teacher at Marana High School, has been recognized with the Kindness Founder Award from the Ben’s Bells Project, an honor that celebrates individuals who exemplify and actively promote intentional acts of kindness within their communities.

Mrs. Maxwell’s recognition reflects her long-standing commitment to fostering a culture of kindness, compassion, and connection. Her work embodies the mission of Ben’s Bells and demonstrates the lasting impact that intentional acts of kindness can have on students, staff, and the broader community.

For more than two decades, Meg has been a champion of kindness in education. In the early 2000s, while teaching 5th grade at Quail Run Elementary, she introduced the Ben’s Bells initiative to the district. Working alongside colleagues, she helped pilot the kindness curriculum as well as student and staff kindness nominations. What began as a small effort quickly grew into a districtwide movement. Today, all K–12 schools participate, many featuring Be Kind murals and embedding kindness into schoolwide expectations, an impact that traces back to Meg’s vision and dedication.

Her commitment continued at Marana Middle School, where she intentionally integrated the Be Kind philosophy into campus culture. In her art classroom, she incorporated kindness into lessons, founded a Be Kind Club, and encouraged colleagues to support and expand the initiative.

Meg is deeply committed to ensuring that kindness is intentionally taught, practiced, and celebrated in schools. Through her leadership and dedication, she has helped build a lasting culture of kindness that continues to positively impact the entire school community

Thank you Meg for being such an inspiring example to all of us at MUSD!
