Accelerate ASU Launches at MUSD

Marana Unified School District is proud to announce a new partnership with Arizona State University that will provide students with expanded access to college level coursework through the Accelerate ASU Program. This initiative allows Marana and Mountain View high school students to take engaging online college courses while earning high school credit, and potentially college credit, at a significantly reduced cost.
Through this program, students can explore a variety of subjects that may not have previously been available to them, including Introduction to Healthcare, Organizational Leadership, Civic Engagement, Psychology, and more.
Students interested in participating this fall should contact their school counselor NOW to adjust their schedules and enroll before the end of the school year.
Program Benefits
- Accelerates students’ academic pathways to college
- Provides exposure to college-level courses and content
- Offers significant cost savings, potentially saving families thousands of dollars toward college costs
- Builds critical skills such as time management, self-discipline, and critical thinking
- Prepares students for the expectations of higher education and future careers
Courses are taught and graded by ASU faculty and staff through ASU’s online platform. Students will complete coursework independently during the school day in a supervised lab setting, with a MUSD teacher available to provide support and guidance. Courses are designed to be completed within one semester, and the student’s high school grade will reflect their ASU course grade.
- Students are eligible to sign up for ASU elective courses as one of their high school electives. Students who successfully complete the online coursework will earn high school elective credit. View the 26-27 available courses and descriptions here.
- Additionally, students who earn a grade of “C” or higher may choose to add the course to their official ASU transcript for college credit.
- For the 26-27 school year, offerings do not include core academic courses (English, math, social studies, and science). However, in the 2027-2028 school year, dual enrollment classes for core credit will be launched.
Important Program Details
- High school credit course fee: $25 nonrefundable per course
- Optional college credit fee: $400 per course for students earning a C or higher
- Comparable ASU courses typically cost $1,176
Students are encouraged to review the ASU Course Catalog to determine which courses align with their future college or career goals and may transfer to other universities.
This partnership reflects MUSD’s commitment to expanding opportunities for students and preparing them for success beyond high school.
