Applications
Marana Unified School District would like to thank you for your interest in Substituting. We are currently accepting applications for Certified Substitute Teachers and Substitute Support Staff. Compensation
Marana Unified School District current compensation:
Certified Substitute Teachers:
Effective for the 2023-2024 school year, daily rates for certified substitute teachers are:
- $140.00 per day for individuals working less than 20 days in the same assignment
- $165 per day for long term substitutes (20 days or more in the same assignment)
Substitute Support Staff:
Effective for the 2023-2024 school year, hourly rate varies depending on position - $1.00 less than the starting rate for the position being filled or minimum wage, whichever is higher.
To receive a Substitute Teacher Certificate:
Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card IVP Packet:
- Contact Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) by phone (602) 223-2279. DPS will send you the fingerprint clearance card IVP packet.
- Make an appointment to be fingerprinted at any Department of Public Safety (DPS). Mail fee by money order/cashiers check along with the application and fingerprints in the envelope provided.
Certification:
- Minimum requirements: Bachelor Degree
- An application for a substitute certificate can be found at the Arizona State Board of Education - Certification Unit

After receiving DPS fingerprint clearance card. Submit copy of card and $60.00 fee, along with your application and official transcripts to the Arizona State Board of Education – Certification Unit.
MUSD requires the certificate to be recorded at Pima County Superintendents Office:

Note: An individual may substitute with any form of valid Arizona teaching certificate.
After Receiving a Substitute Teacher Certificate
Complete a Substitute Teacher application Online in the Employment Portal;
or in-person at the Administrative Service Center in Reception using the available computers:

Please have the following documentation available. The application will require you to attach these documents, if you are unable to attach them you will be required to bring them to orientation along with necessary employment identification.
- Fingerprint Clearance Card from the Department of Public Safety
- Copy of recorded Certificate
- Copy Immunization records
- Copy of your transcript showing completion of at least Bachelors Degree
- Name and current address of employers for the last 10 years
Substitute Support Staff
Complete a Support Staff application online in the Employment Portal;
or in-person at the Administrative Service Center in Reception using the available computers:
