I am very excited to be a part of the MHS family.  I am a Marana alumni and have thoroughly enjoyed growing up in the Marana district. I am extremely thrilled to be able to serve and give back to the community that has provided me with so much love and fond memories. I received my bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the UofA and my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. I also have a Post-Bachelor’s degree in Cross-Categorical Special Education.

I have an amazing husband (also from Marana) who provided me with the perfect stepson. We have two adorable loving dogs and we just enjoy being together as a family. Most of my and my husband’s family continue to live and work in Marana. It has been and always will be our home.

As Associate Principal, Cristal Pesina oversees Discipline/Attendance.

I have been working in public education for nearly a decade and a half. I started my career working as a science teacher teaching primarily biological sciences and have spent time working and living in my home state of Washington as well as Wisconsin and Arizona. I am happily married with two small children who keep me very busy. Some of my  hobbies include playing guitar, staying up- to-date on world news, reading non-fiction,  and doing anything athletic or “outdoorsy”. I am proud to be a part of the Marana community and proud to be a Marana Tiger!

As Associate Principal, Mr. Rorem oversees Educational Services.

I am honored and privileged to join the Tiger family as an Associate Principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Although this will be my first year at MHS, I have served the MUSD community for the last two years at Gladden Farms Elementary as Associate Principal. Prior to joining MUSD, I was honored to teach 9th grade science for 4 years, support student behavior as a Dean of Students, and serve 3 years as an Assistant Principal in another district.

I was born and raised in a small town outside of Buffalo, New York. After graduating from high school, I enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an F-16 Crew Chief before being honorably discharged in 2006. It was my love of the southwest that landed me at the University of Arizona where I earned my degree in education. Since then, I have been a resident of the Marana community, been blessed with two boys, and earned a graduate degree from NAU in school leadership.

I strongly believe in the partnership between families and the school that serves them. It is my commitment to ensure your child receives a positive and quality learning experience that Marana High School is known for. I am passionate about working collaboratively, fostering positive relationships, and helping students shape their future.

As Associate Principal, Jon Schubel oversees Discipline/Attendance.

I am extremely excited to be part of the Marana High community!  I was born and raised in Yuma and moved to Tucson in 1990 to attend college.   I graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in English Education and I attained my master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership.

I began my career in San Jose, CA, as a middle school and high school teacher, and I have over 23 years of experience in education.  I moved back to Tucson in 2001 and worked in TUSD as an elementary teacher and Magnet Coordinator for the past twenty years.  I have coached high school wrestling at Marana High School for the past four years.  I am excited to bring all my experiences and energy to make a difference here at MHS!

Some of my favorite activities to do around town are hiking, biking, and eating at the many great local restaurants that Tucson has to offer! I am thrilled for the opportunity to work and serve the Marana community.  I have a passion for making a difference in the lives of students and I am enthusiastic to begin my administrative career here at MUSD!  Go Tigers!

As Associate Principal, Rob Villanueva oversees Operations/Athletics.
