Computer Science Immersion

Marana teachers are engaging students in computer skill development using both programming and game design, giving students a well–rounded understanding of how to utilize technology to create.  

As a District committed to inspiring students to learn today and lead tomorrow, in August 2016, Quail Run Elementary School and Gladden Farms Elementary School, became two of the first computer science immersion schools in the state to integrate computer science with all core content classes.

Students are taught a comprehensive curriculum where computer science is integrated with content in English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies (K-6) to create an engaging, interactive, and fun learning environment.

In August 2017, Marana Middle School and Tortolita Middle School also integrated computer science into various team core content classes as well as provide a semester-long elective opportunity for all middle school students. In August 2019, Dove Mountain CSTEM K-8 opened its doors as a computer science immersion school.   

Today, MUSD is ensuring students are provided with the skills necessary to be successful in an ever-changing world. Students are taught a comprehensive curriculum where computer science is integrated with content in English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies (K-6) to create an engaging, interactive, and fun learning environment. Access to Chromebook mobile devices and new classroom furniture enhance the learning environment, providing the necessary skills for the high growth, high-demand jobs of the future.
